The transit-care centre was the first of The Banyan's projects and the most instinctive: to provide care for homeless women with mental illness, living on the streets for whom there was no other option. The facility has grown since 1993, from a four bedroom house to a comprehensive facility with space for 240 residents. Here the primary needs of rescued individuals are met and they begin their journey to rehabilitation and recovery with the help of medicines, psychological therapy, occupational therapy and vocational training.
