The story of Shanti

Shanti had a very difficult youth. As a school girl, she had been a first rank student, excelling in many subjects, and had enrolled in the Law School of Madurai. Due to her mental health problems, she had failed her exams and got thrown out of her house, ending up wandering the streets aimlessly. Shanti was brought to The Banyan in 2002 and, four years down the line, she has been given a second chance. Thanks to the encouragement from The Banyan's Legal Expert, Ms Shantakumari, she had the courage to take up her studies again and has now cleared the 17 papers that were pending. Shanti applied to the Bar Council on March 22nd and is hoping to become a practising lawyer.
