Meet The Banyan's Mr. Fix-it: Madan Menon

I always wondered how I might be of help to an NGO that works in a field I have absolutely no idea about, however, the very first time I went there, that doubt was washed away. Fixing was my forte, and I did just that. I crawled about the floors, fixing the network cables, dismantled computer, reassembled them, set up the networks, stayed up building a website, amongst all the other things to ensure that everything ran as smoothly as possible.

Volunteering at The Banyan included doing a whole lot of things, including selling ad spaces in their brochure, to walking with banners for mental health awareness to crowd control in the fund raisers.

I think the greatest satisfaction of volunteering at The Banyan is the ability to be able to read stories of women getting back with their families, and knowing, that one played a role in enabling that.

All in all, volunteering has opened my eyes to selflessness, the joy of living and that pitching in can be enormous fun (especially the volunteer meets!)
