Volunteers are welcome to share their skills, enthusiasm and time within all areas of work at The Banyan, from organizing activities with the residents to human resources to fundraising.
Volunteers must apply to The Banyan to ensure that we get the help that we need and that we can match expectations. We want to give a wonderful, life-enriching experience to our volunteers while at the same time gaining from there experiences and skills. We need volunteers who are pro-active, enthusiastic and hard working. Volunteers have made such an invaluable contribution to The Banyan’s work and we are always looking for fresh ideas and skills to add to this.
Once volunteers have been accepted by our team at The Banyan, they are asked to come in and discuss the role with our volunteer co-coordinator. Volunteers are given the opportunity to have a day long orientation on The Banyan and visit the projects. This can give volunteers a great insight into the work of The Banyan and inspire them as to what and where their skills are most useful.
Many volunteers become long term friends of The Banyan and continue contact even after their volunteering experience. Some have never left!
